One (1) Special Education Coordinator

QUALIFICATIONS:

* Previous teaching experience in Special Education
* Administrative experience, preferred
* Master’s Degree, preferred
* Ohio Intervention Specialist License
* Ohio Administrative Specialist/Principal License
* Demonstrate knowledge and ability to provide leadership at the District level
* Demonstrate the ability to establish and maintain rapport with parents, building administrators, professional colleagues, teachers, related service personnel, and students
* Proven ability to collaborate with multiple stakeholders and work in a team environment
* Consistent requirements to lift, carry, push and pull various supplies and/or equipment up to a maximum of 50 pounds
* Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Superintendent and/or Board of Education may find appropriate

PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Complies with the requirements of the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act, federal and state law, and the Board of Education Policies.

2. Monitors staff compliance requirements by the District with all local, state, and federal laws and regulations relating to students with disabilities as well as those suspected of having a disability.

3. Ensures appropriate delivery of special education and related services per student IEPs.

4. Coordinates all requirements for students on Ohio’s Scholarship programs including but not limited to evaluation, IEP development, maintaining compliance in reporting and Autism Education Plans.

5. Ensures ongoing assessment and reporting of student progress toward the achievement of students' goals and objectives in coordination with principals and staff.

6. Supports the training of special education staff members on federal and state law and district policies and procedures.

7. Assists in the development and implementation of local procedures for finding, identifying, evaluating, and implementing the provisions of special education.

8. Effectively interprets and communicates the vision and mission of the District as it aligns with the education of students with disabilities in the least restrictive environment.

9. Participates in meetings as a District Representative to support building administrators and facilitate IEP team discussions.

10. Demonstrates the ability to work collaboratively and facilitate conversations with all team members including advocates, mental health providers, outside agencies, school staff, and parents.

11. Assists school psychologists, related services professionals, and intervention specialists in recommendations of referral, evaluation, identification, placement, and implementation tools for education in the least restrictive environment.

12. Supervise and evaluate certified or classified staff as assigned.

13. Remain current and knowledgeable regarding research and best practices in special education.

14. Oversee maintenance and confidentiality of student records.

15. Complete all tasks promptly meeting due dates and compliance timelines.

16. Recommends appropriate budget and staffing regarding special education programs.

17. Ongoing visibility in the buildings to support instructional practices and compliance procedures.

18. Other duties as assigned by the Director of Special Education

 

 

 Salary based on experience.
