Lead Custodial Position
Broad Peak (South) Elementary
Must possess a High School Diploma, GED, or Equivalent
and have basic computer skills.
LEAD CUSTODIAN
RESPONSIBLE TO: DIRECTOR OF BUSINESS OPERATIONS
JOB GOAL: To maintain the facilities in a condition of cleanliness and operating excellence so that students, staff and visitors will be furnished an attractive and comfortable educational environment by providing training to new building custodians and assuring uniformity of building custodial procedures throughout the district
QUALIFICATIONS:
*High school diploma or general education degree (GED)
*Three to five years related experience
*Demonstrated skills in working effectively with people
*Demonstrated ability to train and lead people
*Must be able to demonstrate a basic knowledge of electrical, plumbing, painting
*Must be able to demonstrate the ability to use most common hand tools
*Required to lift, carry, push and pull various supplies and/or equipment up to a maximum of 50 pounds.
*Willing to help instill in students the belief in and practice of ethical principles and democratic values
*Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Superintendent and/or the Director of Business Operations may find appropriate
PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Maintain an inventory of supplies and participate in the ordering of supplies and equipment for assigned building.
2. Ensure uniformity of building custodial procedures throughout the district in cooperation with the Director of Business Operations.
3. Attend monthly meetings with other Custodian Leads and Director of Business Operations.
4. Maintain professional working relationships with coworkers, building staff and Director of Business Operations.
5. Provide leadership in creating a team atmosphere with all custodians to accomplish daily tasks.
6. Must have flexibility in daily schedule to properly train a new building custodian during the appropriate shift and/or make arrangements with another building Lead Custodian who works a similar shift to train the new building custodian. Leads will maintain a cooperative
and reciprocal approach as part of a larger team within the District working with the Director of Business Operations.
7. Facilitate communication between all building custodians and the Director of Business Operations, relay specific needs, suggestions, share ideas, etc.
8. Work with the Director of Business Operations to cover absences and assist with addressing tasks/duties as requested by building administration or as directed by the Director of Business Operations.
9. Ensure new building custodians are trained on submission of work orders or other technical issues.
10. Ensure new building custodians are trained in the maintenance of immediate areas around the assigned building exterior doors to keep them clear of snow, ice and debris, due to the fire code.
11. Ensure new building custodians are trained on proper washing of interior and exterior windows and removal of graffiti as necessary.
12. Ensure new building custodians are trained in the performance of regular custodial duties in assigned areas of the building.
13. Ensure new building custodians are trained in the maintenance of trash receptacles inside and outside doorways daily, keeping them clean as needed and removal of trash from the building daily.
Ensure new building custodians are trained in thoroughly cleaning all surfaces in restrooms.
14. Check schedule daily to provide necessary assistance to support curricular and extra-curricular events.
15. Assist visiting members of the public who are utilizing the facilities.
16. Ensure new building custodians are trained in the maintenance of custodial closets in a neat and orderly manner.
17. Ensure new building custodians are trained in the performance of general clean up – any and all incidents as they arise.
18. Ensure new building custodians are trained in the occasional work from elevated surfaces while conducting overhead cleaning.
19. Ensure new building custodians are trained in keeping all necessary items such as but not limited to windows, air locks, chalk/eraser boards, lockers, furniture, and display cases clean at all times.
20. Ensure new building custodians are trained in checking daily to ensure all doors and windows are locked/unlocked as needed.
21. Report any major repair needs or other deficiencies to the Director of Business Operations.
22. Perform any other duties as assigned by the Superintendent or Director of Business Operations.

EVALUATION: Performance of these responsibilities will be evaluated by the Buildings and Grounds Supervisor in accordance with the provisions of the Board’s policy.
